Niche Blending: A Social Media How-To

Hot Cars and Fast women... Fat stacks of hundred dollar bills... Sex, drugs and rock and roll! There is a reason that marketing has used tried and true ideas in order to get people to buy into what they are selling. Mostly because people will always want hot new toys and to let lose, have fun, and of course have lots of sex! If you can capture that idea and wrap it around your product then you have a sure fire sale. But how do you do that and how does that relate to social media?

The problem with having a niche is by definition you are targeting a demographic or idea. you want to be as specific and precise as you can. It seems like adding anything to your niche would make it watered down which would be a bad thing. With social media, attracting mass amounts of targeted followers is the name of the game. You aren't going to attract enough followers in a targeted niche without spreading around some love to other niches. Sure you can have a very large and broad defined niche like "fitness" or "weight loss", but it wont be targeted enough to use to be viable for your niche and you will end up attracting people who don't want what your selling. This is where niche blending comes in handy.

When you use the technique of niche blending, the idea is to still focus on your niche, but sprinkle in something that is a marketing go to. You need something that can you can easily blend into your niche but will target a different demographic. For example, if you have a food niche on Instagram. You absolutely love eggs. You of course are going to have pictures of all different kinds of eggs and how they are prepared. you'll probably have pictures of chickens on a farm and the different kinds of farm fresh eggs. I'm betting you would have eggs in every shape and form. Tons of recipe ideas and different and unique ways to use eggs. eventually you are going to run out of ways to show an egg. This is one place where niche blending really helps. You have a new material in which you can upload and get more likes and follows. Lets say you ran out and now you are just rehashing out old picture ideas over and over. Instead, you could use niche blending and lean over into a new niche. You could post in a "fitness" niche on the benefits of eggs. you could show the healthy side of eggs. pics of eggs in protein shakes. A egg based diet? maybe the down side of eggs in the "fitness" niche. Now find a list of niches that you could blend easily and tastefully into yours.

Niche blending is also a good way to drive in new followers. If you have a niche on "inspirational quotes", you'll have a ton of things you can post. they have entire library's on quotes you could use. You don't lack material for your niche but you do however have a problem. Not everyone likes inspirational quotes. No matter how many awe inspiring quotes you post, some people will just keep scrolling on. If you were to blend into a niche that was a bit more popular, like celebrities, you extend your target audience and grab up some follower who wouldn't otherwise follow you. You might be into cars. You might be into "home and garden". If you are into a specific niche that doesn't carry the following that bigger niches do, blending into your niche will give you that upswing you really need.

This will work across all forms of social media. You can use this in basically all forms of marketing, but you can really hit a home run when applying niche blending to your social media campaigns
